Exhibition “The Last Marquises. History of the Pazo de Castrelos, 1896–1934”

A Journey into the Past at the Pazo de Castrelos

Next Thursday, December 4, we will carry out a cultural activity in Spanish at the Pazo de Castrelos, one of the most emblematic places in Vigo. There we will visit the exhibition Exposición “Los últimos marqueses. Historia del Pazo de Castrelos, 1896–1934”, which will allow us to learn what life was like in this palace before it became a museum.

📍 Place: Museum – Pazo Quiñones de León (Parque de Castrelos, Vigo)

🕒 Start time: 10:00 a.m.

Approximate duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

What We Will See During the Visit

In the exhibition we will be able to enter the original rooms of the pazo: the dining room, the library, and the bedrooms. We will also discover the servants’ hall, where more than fifteen people worked, and see the bell box that signaled from the different rooms.

Among the most important objects is the guest book, with signatures of personalities such as King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia. Each room is decorated with portraits, antique furniture, and documents that help us imagine how the marquises lived.

Objectives of the Activity

  • Discover a historic place in Vigo.
  • Learn cultural and everyday vocabulary in a real context.
  • Practice Spanish in an authentic situation.
  • Enjoy a shared group experience.

A Journey into the Past That Comes Alive

Walking through the rooms of the Pazo de Castrelos is much more than visiting a museum: it is entering the intimacy of another era, listening to the echo of old conversations, imagining the routines of those who lived among portraits, bells, and velvet. This activity invites us to look at Vigo’s history with new eyes, to discover the vocabulary hidden in objects, and to practice Spanish in a setting full of meaning.

It will be a shared cultural and linguistic experience, where every corner of the pazo becomes an opportunity to learn, connect, and enjoy. We look forward to experiencing this small journey into the past together.
